BOTOX® Facial Injections
Botox® is perhaps the most well-known facial injection prescription available. The prescription medicine, manufactured by Allergan, is used by the Rosemark Women Care Specialists healthcare providers to improve the look of facial lines and wrinkles.
HOW IT WORKS
Botox® is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles resulting in a reduction of muscle activity. Botox® blocks the nerve signals that stimulate the muscles. After the injection, the muscle can no longer contract causing wrinkles to relax and soften. Patients may begin to notice a visible reduction of facial lines in 24 to 48 hours but it may take up to seven days to see the full result.
COMMON INJECTION SITES
The repeated muscle contractions from frowning and squinting over the years causes wrinkles to develop near the side of the eyes and are commonly known as “crow’s feet.” Wrinkles are also commonly found in the forehead between the eyes. These two areas are the most common treatment sites for Botox® injections. However, wrinkles in other areas of the face and neck may also be treated.
IS BOTOX® SAFE?
Botox® is a drug so it should be respected as such and administered by a licensed professional. The drug is a neurotoxin, which is alarming to some people, however, it is perfectly safe. Again, it is safe when used within the guidelines licensed and accredited healthcare providers, like those at Rosemark Women Care Specialists.
Botox® treatments are well-studied. According to Allergan, Botox® is one of the most extensively studied medical aesthetic treatments and is approved for cosmetic use in 78 countries.
