About Katie
Kathryn “Katie” Fenske is a Certified Nurse-Midwife dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to women throughout every stage of life. Originally a Chicago native turned proud Idahoan, Katie earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education and Administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before completing her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Midwifery at Marquette University.
Katie’s passion for pregnancy and childbirth began early in life and naturally evolved into a calling to care for women across their lifespan. With nearly eight years of experience as a labor and delivery charge nurse, combined with extensive midwifery training, she brings both clinical expertise and calm confidence to every patient interaction.
She strongly believes in shared decision-making and approaches patient-care first and foremost as an educator. Katie provides evidence-based information so her patients feel empowered to make informed decisions, whether they are planning their desired birth experience, choosing contraception, or navigating routine women’s healthcare. Her ultimate goal is always a healthy mom, a healthy baby, and a patient who feels heard, supported, and confident in her care.
Katie helps patients prepare both emotionally and physically for childbirth by breaking information into manageable, meaningful discussions at each visit. She encourages questions, provides resources, and creates space for patients to explore their options without feeling overwhelmed.
She is passionate about dispelling common misconceptions about midwifery. After all, as a certified nurse-midwife, she does far more than deliver babies. Katie cares for women throughout their lifespan and works closely with obgyn physicians and nursing teams to ensure safe, collaborative care. She has delivery privileges at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and Mountain View Hospital, where she partners seamlessly with hospital staff to provide comprehensive labor and delivery support.
Katie is especially motivated by the opportunity to help patients feel less alone in their experiences. She understands that many women quietly carry fears or uncertainties, and she strives to create an environment where patients feel supported, understood, and never isolated.
Personal Background
Outside of caring for patients, Katie enjoys traveling, planning adventures, crafting, and designing custom graphics for t-shirts, blankets, and other creative projects. She loves spending time with her daughter and her five nephews, making memories and exploring together.
Katie’s philosophy is simple: keep learning, keep growing, and always be a steady, positive presence in her patients’ lives, especially on the days when they need it most.
As a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Katie provides:
- Prenatal care for low-risk pregnancies
- Labor and delivery support
- Well-woman exams, Pap smears, and breast exams
- Birth control counseling including Nexplanon and IUD insertions
- Treatment for common gynecologic concerns such as vaginal infections and UTIs
- Basic primary care services
